The past year has been one of remarkable resilience, collaboration and progress across Wildlife Asia’s landscapes. Despite intense pressures—from accelerating deforestation and climate impacts in Aceh to conflict and displacement in Myanmar—our partners have continued to show what community-led conservation can achieve.
Across the Leuser Ecosystem, wildlife patrol teams and community rangers protected vital strongholds for Sumatran rhinos, tigers, elephants and orangutans, delivering hundreds of wildlife detections and driving down illegal logging in key zones. In Aceh, HAkA’s advocacy, citizen training and advanced forest-monitoring strengthened transparency, governance and community empowerment.
In Myanmar, under extraordinarily difficult conditions, the Kawthoolei Forestry Department and KESAN continued to safeguard intact forests, uphold Indigenous knowledge, support women-led livelihoods and strengthen food security. Their courage underscores that conservation is inseparable from justice, dignity and self-determination.
We also celebrated important progress in species recovery, with the Javan Gibbon Center’s rehabilitation and reintroduction program seeing new births in the wild—clear evidence of long-term success.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our partners, the trust of our donors and the commitment of supporters around the world. Thank you for standing with us to protect some of the most threatened landscapes and species on Earth.
